Sri Lankan filmmaker Buddhi Kirtisena, Pakistan's Siraj-ul-Haque, Tanveer Husseini from Bangladesh, Abdul Latifi from Afghanistan have joined hands, on the last day of South Asian Film Festival (SAFF), to make a film which will in all probability be a love story traversing five countries in the South Asian region.
"The story will follow the protagonist across five countries. Each director will shoot in another country, enabling him to catch a glimpse of it in his lens, from his perspective. From India, the director will be either Pooja Bhatt or Sudhir Mishra," Manoj Srivastav, CEO of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) said on Monday. The story idea of the inter-country joint venture film is in preliminary stages.
The Indian director will shoot a 20-minute portion in Pakistan, the Bangladesh filmmaker will film his part in India, the Sri Lankan director will shoot in Bangladesh and the Pakistani director may shoot in Afghanistan. Afghanistan actress Khatera Yousufi will be among the film's cast members. The process of executing the project should take shape in two months.
The film, to be produced under the banner of the South Asia Foundation who will arrange for the funds, will be basically in English; sub-titling will be done whenever the local languages are spoken on screen.
