Mammootty’s Annan Thampi, which released on Vishu, still maintains its No. 1 position at the box office. The film has already broken all collection records and is still running at half of the theatres where it was released. The second place goes to Jayasuriya’s Shakespeare M.A. Malayalam directed by debutants Shyju-Shaju, which had a weak opening but has picked up momentum since.
Innathe Chinthavishayam, featuring Mohanlal and directed by Sathyan Anthikadu, is at the third place. The film has already been termed as a super hit and has made profits. The fourth place goes to another Jayasuriya starrer, Positive, directed by V. Prakash. Pachamarathanalil, in the fifth place, featuring Sreenivasan and Padmapriya, is expected to end up as an average runner. The film is hoped to recover its production costs.
Among the other releases, Kalabhavan Mani’s new film Andavan, has disappointed audiences and is already sliding down the charts.
