The Kollam Sub Court has prohibited screening of some scenes of superstar Mammootty's Kutty Shranku, being directed by Shaji N. Karun, which was shot in the ‘Kalari’ and ‘Sarpakavu’ of Azhakathu family at Chavara. The order was issued on a petition filed by A.R. Chandrasekhara Kurup and members of the Azhakathu family.
In their petition filed through advocate T. Ajeesh, the petitioners alleged that the scenes shot at the deities at the 'Kalari' and 'Sarpakavu' hurt the religious sentiments of the family members. The court observed that the petitioners had a prima facie case and ordered the said scenes to be deleted.
Produced by Reliance Entertainment under the banner of Big Motion Pictures, Kutty Shranku is the the first-ever Malayalam production by Anil Ambani's newly-launched entertainment company. The film stars Kamalinee Mukherjee, Padmapriya, Meenakumari, Saikumar, Siddique and Suresh Krishna in important roles.
