Dasavathaaram releases

Dasavathaaram releases
Baiju NT [June 13, 2008, 1:40:01 PM]

Finally, the time has come! Dasavathaaram, the costliest Indian film ever made (a whopping budget of Rs.1.3 billion), starring superstar Kamal Haasan in an unprecedented 10 different roles creating a world record for the maximum roles in a single film, releases today across the globe in two languages.

Tamil film industry is already in awe of the film, being claimed as the ultimate in world cinema by its producer Aascar Ravichandran and director K.S. Ravikumar.

The film, which was in the making for more than two years, is released with 1,000 prints, a record in the history of Tamil cinema. The Hindi version will be released two weeks later. Kamal leads a bevy of beauties led by Asin and Mallika Sherawat in the film shot in India and abroad. Some shots were even filmed under water.

With Dasavathaaram, Kamal is surpassing the existing record of Tamil cinema's yesteryears thespian, late Sivaji Ganesan, who played nine roles in a film in the 60s Navaraatri, late Sanjeev Kumar who enacted nine roles in the Hindi version Naya Din Nayi Raat, and Hollywood actor late Alec Guiness who portrayed eight roles in the late 40s release Kind Hearts and Coronets.
