The fourth Gulf Malayalam Music Awards (GMMA) will be held at Dubai Festival City on April 17, actor Idavela Babu said while addressing mediapersons at the Ernakulam Press Club on Friday.

The GMMA lifetime achievement honour for the year goes to classical music guru V. Dakshinamurthy during the event, the biggest celebration of Malayalam music in the Gulf. The best talents, performers and musical efforts released in 2008 in the Malayalam music industry will be honoured at the function.

The winners are voted solely by Keralite expatriates living in the Gulf. Winners are selected for 12 categories, including the best song, the best music director, the most-requested song and the best singers. Apart from playback singers and music bands, cine actors will participate in the function.
