Like every boy and girl in Kerala, Kavya Madhavan also grew up watching Mohan Lal, lovingly called as Lalettan, movies. When she got a chance of acting in movies, she dreamt about acting with this superstar of Malayalam cinema, beloved by kids and elderly alike.
In Madampi, Kavya Madhavan and Mohan Lal come up as a romantic pair for the first time. So finally, she is fulfilling her dream by acting in Madampi as Lal’s heroine. The film's shooting is progressing in Ottappalam, which has witnessed the birth of several memorable movies in Malayalam.
Mohan Lal plays Gopalakrishna Pillai, a kind-hearted money-lender who knows how to get his money and interest back. He loves his mother tongue and teaches at the local tutorial college. Kavya plays the role of the manager of a bank which opens a new branch in the village much to the dismay of Gopalakrishna Pillai. In the first half of the film, Kavya (screen name Jayalakshmi) is his bitter foe, but the pair predictably gets romantically involved in later stages.
The highlight of the movie is Mohan Lal reciting in his own voice a Malayalam poem written by Anil Pachuran. The movie is written and directed by B. Unnikrishnan.
