Following Mamta’s refusal to act in Keerthichakra (Aran in Tamil) opposite Mohanlal, it is the turn of Lakshmi Gopalswamy to do the role. Lakshmi Gopalaswamy will play heroine in Keerthichakra. The film, directed by Major Ravi, depicts the real life struggles faced by the army commandos serving in the borders. This big budget film will have a number of war sequences and is scheduled to be shot in the actual war sites of Kargil. Mohanlal had earlier played the role of an army commando in a Sathyan Anthikad movie Pingami during the mid nineties, but that film followed the incidents in the life of a commando when he was on leave and in his village. Gopika is the other heroine paired opposite Tamil actor Jeeva.
