It is reported that in 2006 , Malayalam film industry invested 175 crores for the 63 films released last year and its intial box office collection was only 130 crores. The major blockbusters of the past year inlcude Keerthichakra, Rasthanthram and Thuruppu Ghulan which ran for more than 100 days. Laljose' Classmates has been rated as the biggest movie in Malluwood, reported to have accumulated 23 crores in its 125 days at the box office. The movie is based on campus life of the 90's.
