For the first time in the history of Malayalam cinema, a yesteryear Malayalam film is being remade in Malayalam! If reports are to be believed, Lal Jose, one of the most enterprising directors in Mollywood, will remake Neela Thamara, directed by Yusaf Ali Kechery in 1979.

Renowned Malayalam scriptwriter M.T. Vasudevan Nair is rewriting the old script of Neela Thamara to suit today's viewers. The new version will be produced by G. Suresh Kumar under the banner of Revathy Kalamandhir.

According to sources, Lal Jose is searching for a few fresh faces to don the lead characters. Vijay Loknath will wield the camera. Music is scored by Vidya Sagar. The shooting is likely to begin by the end of April. More details are awaited.
