MACTA should stay united: Vinayan

MACTA should stay united: Vinayan
Baiju NT [June 27, 2008, 12:34:54 PM]

On Thursday, a day after the All India Film Employees Confederation (AIFEC) decided to dissolve the existing committee of MACTA, former general secretary Vinayan told mediapersons that MACTA should stay united without any cracks.

Only a leadership that protects the interests of the labourers should take charge of the federation in the coming days. The elections, to be held within the next three months, would give “labourers having creativity” an opportunity to take up new roles in various unions under the federation, he added.

He denied reports that the AIFEC had frozen the bank account of the federation. He also said the AIFEC had made it clear that it would not recognize any organisation other than the MACTA Federation in the Malayalam film industry and would resolve the issue involving director Tulasidas and actor Dileep.

Meanwhile, reacting to a complaint by members in the breakaway faction from MACTA that Vinayan had violated the understanding reached during the Chennai meet by addressing the media on Thursday, AIFEC general secretary S. Vijayan told that the confederation was yet to get a written complaint on the issue. Vinayan had sought the permission of the AIFEC to address the media to clear certain allegations of irregularities in the use of funds owned by the federation, he revealed.
