Mohanlal has been adjudged the best Malayalam actor for his outstanding portrayal as Valiyakathu Moosa in P.T. Kunjumuhammed's Paradesi at 55th annual Tiger Balm South Filmfare Awards ceremony organised in Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai. Malayalam sensation Meera Jasmine won the award for the best actress for her distinct roles in Ore Kadal, directed by Shyamaprasad.
M. Mohanan's Katha Parayumpol, which is being remake as Kuselan in Tamil, won the award for the best Malayalam film, while Babu Thiruvalla won the award for the best director for his Thaniye.
Music director Ouseppachan, Lyricist Anil Panachuran and Madhu Balakrishnan have been selected for the awards for best music direction (Orekadal), Lyrics (Arabikadha) and best playback singing (Orekadal) respectively. Actors Saikumar and Lakshmi got the best supporting actor awards.
