Actor Vineeth is very happy these days! This classical dancer, who has acted in several well received films in his native Malayalam, plus Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films, has made a comeback as hero after a long break with the latest Tamil movie Uliyin Osai, a touching tale that deals with the passion, dedication and sincerity of a young sculptor, Iniyan.
The current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi, has written the screenplay of the movie in which Vineeth's dancing and acting skills set him apart from the usual brand of heroes.
"It is true that I don't have a hero image in Malayalam and Tamil, but both industries think that there are certain roles that only I can play. I always wanted to star in a film that would showcase my dance talents. There was once a time when such films were made in Malayalam, but sadly, the industry is now very obsessed with making only commercial cinema," he was quoted as saying.
"It has been about 22 years since I entered films. I have acted in films in quite a number of languages. Numbers were never something that I was obsessed with. I was always interested in the character I was asked to play. If the character was good, I'd take it. Frankly, I was not interested in the duration of the role either. Even if it was a small role, if I liked it and if I thought that it was strong enough, I accepted it," he added.
