Hindi movie Hanuman opened the doors of animation films in India. Since then, there have been several animations films hitting the theatres. US-based producer Nalin Singh is producing the first full-length animation film in Malayalam, titled Manikatan, which tells the story of a seven-year-old girl and her pet parrot, who make friends with Lord Ayyappa.
Increation, a city-based media and production company, in association with Sai Raksha Entertainment and Indiatales, is making the movie slated for release next year. Music maestro Ilayaraja scores the music for the five songs of the 90-minute film being made in Malayalam and Tamil. It will later be dubbed in other languages including Hindi, Telugu and English.
Manikatan, by director Reji Syne, will have all the big names in the Malayalam film industry including Suresh Gopi, Thilakan and Sukumari, lending their voices for the film.
