Bharat Bali is planning a big-budget movie based on a story by M.T. Vasudevan Nair, the noted author, screenplay writer and film director, whose works detail the sufferings of the people of Kerala in the post-independence period. He is popular for his novels, short stories and screenplays which focus on emotions, passion and love. He has been honoured with the National Award for Best Screenplay five times. The winner of the Jnanpith award for literature made his entry into the Malayalam film industry as a scriptwriter. He made his foray into direction with the film Nirmalyam in 1973, for which he also received President’s gold medal.
Bharat Bali's film, tentatively titled The Night 3 Step with Asin playing the lead role, will be an English movie. The other cast members are yet to be finalized. The latest buzz is that Kamal Haasan or Mohanlal will be roped in to play the male lead.
