Suhasini Manirathnam has appeared in some very good roles in Malayalam films. She acted in Shaji N. Karun’s Vaanaprasatham, starring Mohanlal in the lead. Her performance in the Jayaram starrer Theerthadanam as a poor middle-aged woman bagged her the Kerala State Award for best actress.
She was also seen portraying the character of a college principal in the super hit film, Nammal by Kamal in 2003. Now, after a gap of around four years, she is back as a doctor named Mary Cherian in Vilapanagalkappuram.
The movie, directed by T.V. Chandran, tells the story of a Muslim woman affected by the Gujarat riots, trying to recover from her harrowing past.
