Positive is a musical romantic thriller by ad-maker-turned-film director V.K. Prakash, who bagged the National award for the best directorial newcomer for his debut film Punaradhivasam (2000). After a while, following his earlier works like Mullavalliyum, Thenmavum (2003), Police (2005) and Moonnamathoraal (2006), V.K. Prakash is back with Positive, another commercial film, starring Jayasuriya in the lead.
Positive, as the title indicates, is all about the positive mindsets of people. Ace scriptwriter S.N. Swamy tells the story of a group of youngsters - Raju, Winnie, Udhayan and Cherry - a team who studied together. They form a music troupe to continue with their meetings and friendship.
Meanwhile, a romantic affair blossoms between Raju (Notebook fame Skandha) and a young girl Jyothi, which creates troubles in their hitherto carefree life. Jyothi's parents try to get her married to a police officer, Aniyan (Jayasuriya). Raju desperately make arrangements to get the marriage cancelled. Even when this marriage is cancelled, some drastic happenings in Raju's life bring difficulties to the other troupe members. They are brought face-to-face with Aniyan, who confronts them as a police officer. This confrontation constitutes the thrill of the movie.
Debutante Ramesh Pisharody enacts the role of Cherry; Manikuttan is the drummer Udhayan and Vani Kishore becomes Winnie. Another debutante, Ayilya G. Nair, plays the role of Jyothi.
Cinematography is by R. Ganesh; Bava does the art direction; lyrics by Sarath Vayalar are set to tune by Alex Paul; stills are by Jayaprakash Payyannur. Positive is produced under the banner of Fabulance Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and will be released in May.
